View from the Ryokan - a Chiyogami Paper Collage

This art collage is made of NINE different kinds of Chiyogami paper, cut by hand to produce this intricate landscape. The "tatami" mat has a beautiful linen-like texture. 

Chiyogami is a special paper from Japan, silkscreened by hand. Because of its intricate designs, the process involved calls for careful registration of screens. The brilliant colours of Chiyogami are fade-resistant.

All four sides of the wood panel are also finished in chiyogami paper. This artwork is ready to hang.
