About the Artist behind Apfelstrudel

Apfelstrudel

The Artist Behind Apfelstrudel is a Toronto-based self-taught artist, travel photographer, and designer with a keen fascination for maps. She uses broken vintage maps, engravings, and postage stamps for her works of art, some of which hang in public spaces in Canada and the US.

For watercolour, she uses Arches paper, Escoda sable brushes, handmade oriental brushes, Daniel Smith, Winsor & Newton, Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours, Caran d’Ache and Derwent watercolour pencils. For sketching, she uses Palomino, Staedtler, and Faber-Castell pencils.

She is also a linguist and is notorious for “making pun” in four languages.
