The Mona Lisa. A Moveable Feast. Original Map Art Collage on Wood Panel
A Moveable Feast.
Other than the title of the book about Paris by Ernest Hemingway, the title of this art piece is based on the fact that the Mona Lisa was moved out of the Louvre for safekeeping around the time of the Second World War.
Paper collage made using a 1937 map of Paris, hand-cut illustrations from the 1940s of the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa being moved out of the Louvre for safekeeping during WW2, hand-cut illustrations from 1901 (person carrying the chair and paintings) and engravings from the 1880s. The collage has a beautiful clear lacquer coating. Sustainable art at its finest.
